Aryavardhan alias Varadraj is a numerologist cum astrologer and appears in popular South Indian TV channels claiming to solve life’s problem through his numerology.
He says that, “Do you want a better job, progress in business, luxuries in life, your relationship to work and to be remembered after death? An individuals success is in his name .
For all kinds of growth in life, name should be numerologically correct with a perfect signature.”

A 28 year old married woman from AP fell prey to an advertisement repeatedly telecast on TV channels that projected that Aryavardhan Guruji had a “solution to all problems.”
The woman, a resident of Karnool in Andhra Pradesh, approached the guruji after coming across the advertisement about his numerology classes.
The woman said she enrolled in two courses about a year ago to learn numerology from Aryavardhan Guruji who runs the Aryavardhan Numerology Office in KG Nagar. She paid Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 24,000, respectively, for the two courses. The numerologist promised to refund the fee if the courses did not benefit her.
She attended classes for a few months but realised that the courses were of little use to her. She told Aryavardhan that she would discontinue and asked him to refund the fee. The numerologist reportedly refused to refund the fee, leading to an argument between the two.
On August 21, the woman and her husband went to Aryavardhan’s flat in an apartment complex in Rajarajeshwari Nagar to seek the refund, where she was allegedly raped.
The woman said she was so upset that she returned to her hometown. She was too depressed to think of going to police. Later she got to know about Rationalists’ and Humanists’ Forum of India (RHFI) and with the help of Debashis Rationalist, the general secretary of RHFI, she filed a police complain.
Based on this police arrested him from Tamil Nadu.
Aryavardhan obtained an interim bail on Saturday 19 Dec. On Sunday Dec 20 he was arrested once again following a complain from a woman from Byataranapura. The woman came forward on Sunday claiming the guruji had swindled her of money and sexually harassed her trying to rid of her problems.
The numerlogist cum astrologer claimed to solve the problems of others. However he failed to predict his own fate.
Police have booked Aryavardhan under IPC IPC Sections 376( Rape), IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 420 (cheating), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
Debashis Rationalist said that more and more people are falling prey as these charlatans are allowed to advertise. These falls under ‘Objectionable Advertisement’ and is punishable by law. Action can also be taken against the media house that carries these advertisements. In case if media houses does not care for the law, law enforcement department should take necessary actions against them.
